Welcome to Globetrotter Türinèis!
Hello my darlings,
it has been a really intense year but unavoidably of silence here on the blog, I couldn’t wait to tell you all the news coming up. New name, new layout, many new columns, new tasks and direct links to podcasts and streaming of the radio show (spinoff of the blog) which started back in March 2014 on Radio M**Bun.
Why renaming the blog?
As you probably noticed, I changed name from Livin’+Abroad to Globetrotter Türinèis (Türinèis = From Torino, in Piedmont local language) because it’s less general, it best mixes what is part of my life (travels and Torino) and last but not least it’s the name of my radio show which started in March on Radio M**Bun. You can find podcasts in the tab RADIO SHOW.
Why switching from a blog to a website?
After 8 years of blog activity, I decided to move to A REAL WEBSITE (it’s still working as it was before) because I wanted a better-looking layout, easier to check out, where pictures and videos could stand out and a section focused on Torino only. All this couldn’t have been possible without Alessandro who help me out in this new adventure as webmaster.
What Globetrotter Türinèis is talking about?
Globetrotter Türinèis are 3 blogs in 1 (or let’s say it in a more poetic way it’s a blog with 3 souls).

I chose them randomly because they’re equal in all sorts of ways.
Travel & Life Abroad : I love travelling (what a disconcerting statement) and I can’t do it as much as I would like to (just as much disconcerting as the previous statement) but sometimes, helped by some shortcuts here and there (that we’ll talk about), I move my feet around the world. So, in this section, you’ll find random tips about where to sleep, what to see, how to move around and cultures of places where I have been personally. A low cost guide with all-you-need-to-know before your departure. Warning: I really have the bad habit to seek only local way of life and food, so if you are maybe looking for the best Irish Pub in Dubrovnik, Croatia you’ll probably won’t find it here (No judging but what the hell dude, are you serious??!). I create this blog back in the 2006 when I got accepted in the Exchange Program USA and its first purpose was to keep updated my family. Then again for my Erasmus Program in Paris. A legendary section to fullfill any dout about how’s living abroad (USA and Paris only, for the moment) and the differences with travelling.
Torino : when you are in town you complain about it everyday and when you leave you’re crazy homesick, you always think there’s not that much to do and at the contrary there’s every sort of things you want, it doesn’t matter if you are from Torino (=Turin) or piemontese (=from Piedmont) or a foreign there are few people who are disappointed by this magnificent Baroque town shrouded in mystery. Oh well, it has its lacks but there’s that magic in some parts of the day that make you think “I live in a truly awesome place”. The focus tab on Torino would like to be an advisor for all who don’t know it very well but they really want to discover all the beauty that it hides. Indeed, Torino is a diffident city and a first contact by foreigns is not enough to get deeply in contact with it, and its people is not that different. So, you just need some advices and you’ll be soon called “turineis” (=‘people from Torino’ in Piedmont language).
Lifestyle : the most enjoyable things in life. Random cool stuff I care about. From Street Style Photography to music and subculture events, from brunch reviews to art hexibitions, from countryside festivals to the last French movie lasting 4 hours and 56 minutes (no just kidding I won’t do this!). Trends coming up or coming back, coolhunting, famous and brilliant unknowns, design, art, fashion, music, food, sport…impossible not to find something that you like or you are curious about.

dopo un anno molto intenso ma di silenzio sul blog, non vedevo l’ora di mostrarvi tutte le novità. Un nuovo nome, una nuova grafica, tante nuove rubriche, nuove funzionalità e i collegamenti diretti ai podcast e alla diretta del programma radio (spinoff del blog) che ha preso vita a marzo 2014 su Radio M**Bun.
Perché un nuovo nome?
Vi sarete accorti che ho cambiato il nome del blog da Livin’+Abroad a Globetrotter Türinèis (Türinèis = torinese, in piemontese) perché è meno generico, coniuga meglio tutto ciò che fa parte della mia vita (la passione per l’estero e la mia amata Torino) ed inoltre è il nome del programma radio a cui ho potuto dare vita su Radio M**Bun. Perché passare da blog a sito?
Dopo 8 anni di attività con il blog, ho deciso di passare ad un vero sito (anche se rimane comunque a tutti gli effetti un blog) perché volevo che diventasse graficamente più bello, più facile da consultare, risaltassero maggiormente foto e file multimediali, di cui sono grande fan, e ci fosse una sezione dedicata esclusivamente a Torino. Tutto questo non sarebbe stato possibile senza l’aiuto di Alessandro in veste di webmaster.
Di cosa tratta Globetrotter Türinèis?
Globetrotter Türinèis sono 3 blog in uno (oppure è un blog con tre anime, se volessimo essere poetici).

Scelte in ordine sparso perché godono della proprietà commutativa.
Travel & Life Abroad : mi piace viaggiare (quale sconcertante dichiarazione) ma non lo faccio quanto vorrei (altrettanto sconcertante dichiarazione) però ogni tanto, con qualche scorciatoia qua e là (che approfondiremo), riesco a muovermi al di fuori dei confini italici. Quindi, in buona sostanza, qui, troverete consigli random su dove dormire, cosa vedere, come muoversi ed usi e costumi del luogo. Insomma, un vademecum low cost, le solite cose utili da sapere prima di partire per una nuova destinazione, risparmiando i soldi di una Lonely Planet. Attenzione: ho la “pessima” abitudine a cercare di vivere nel modo più verosimile a quello degli autoctoni, quindi se foste alla ricerca del miglior pub irlandese a Dubrovnik non è qui che troverete la risposta. Il blog nasce tanto tempo fa con l’esigenza di comunicare il processo emotivo e le esperienze pratiche da me affrontate con indomito coraggio durante i miei soggiorni all’estero (USA prima e Parigi poi) ai miei familiari. Nella sezione dedicata potrete trovare le risposte ad ogni vostro dubbio se foste interessati ad intraprendere percorsi di vita all’estero o comprendere meglio le differenze tra vivere e viaggiare all’estero.
Torino : quando ci sei te ne lamenti e quando te ne vai la rimpiangi, pensi non ci sia mai nulla da fare ed invece c’è tutto, non importa che tu sia torinese o piemontese o proveniente da un’altra regione sono in pochissimi ad essere delusi da questa magnifica città barocca avvolta dal mistero. Oddio, i suoi difetti li ha ma ha anche quella magia che in certi momenti del giorno ti fa fermare e pensare “Vivo in un posto davvero meraviglioso” (e no, non mi sto riferendo a quando guidi la macchina in mezzo alla nebbia alle 7,30 del mattino). La sezione dedicata a Torino vuole essere un punto di riferimento per tutti quelli che non la conoscono bene ma che hanno voglia di scoprire davvero tutta la bellezza che nasconde. Soprattutto perché ad un primo impatto la città è diffidente e non lascia modo ai forestieri di entrarci davvero in contatto, tratto distintivo anche dei suoi cittadini. Come tutte le cose, basta saper toccare le corde giuste…
Lifestyle : cose figherrime. Un potpourri di cose che mi piacciono. Dalla Street Style Photography agli eventi di musica e sottocultura, dal cibo dell’osteria più in voga del momento all’ultima mostra d’arte contemporanea, dalla Sagra del Peperone di Carmagnola all’ultimo film d’essai francese di 4 ore e 56 minuti (no, promesso, questo no). Trend in arrivo o di ritorno, coolhunting, illustri sconosciuti e sconosciuti brillanti, design, arte, moda, musica, cibo, sport…impossibile non trovare qualcosa che vi piaccia o stuzzichi la vostra curiosità.
